A SINGLE STATE SOLUTION
|
Like many one-staters I am a jew, bar-mitzvahed and the whole thing. And like most of us, it took me a long time before I saw through the Zionist "hasbara." [Heb., propaganda] I was never entirely impressed with the whole tribal mytho-history, and long ago noticed that the Old Testament seemed to be telling one long, epic story of proto-fascism. But it wasn't until three years ago that the light finally dawned, and I realized that Israel, like all fascist, racist entities was doomed. The only questions remaining in my mind were 1. How has it managed to last so long? About 60 years already. 2. How will it end? If things continue the way they've been going, it won't be pretty. 3. How can I help to resolve the problem in the best possible fashion? The answer seemed so obvious that I found it hard to believe that it wasn't on the top of everyone's agenda. I then looked on the web for sites that provided good information. I found a number of good websites (see links), but nothing that had quite the focus I was looking for - so I decided to create my own. This site contains numerous answers to the above questions, as well as a number of closely related issues, written by some remarkable, brilliant and courageous people, all of whom are pretty good writers. The one state solution, as it is known, appeared to be the obvious answer to the third question even before I knew that others had been working on it for a long time, and I wrote my essay on the subject before reading any of the voluminous material referenced on this website. It is interesting that all of the articles written specifically to make the case for one state are remarkably similar, almost interchangeable. The reason for that is simply that the case is so crystal clear and incontrovertible. You could read mine, Tony Judt's, Virginia Tilley's or Michael Tarazi's, etc., and not be able to tell them apart, aside from the fact that they are all better writers than I am. And little did I know at the time that the idea has been around from the very beginning, as a British Imperialist project at the start of the 19th Century, when it was referred to as bi-nationalism and was a key element of early Zionist thinking, which it remained until 1948. After that, "political" Zionism - the fascist varient - became the official Israeli ideology, and has since then come to thoroughly infect American political thinking and foreign policy as well. There is one major difference between us, though. Unlike the others, who are mostly secular humanists, I am a student and practitioner of Tibetan Buddhism. As such I am thoroughly grounded in an understanding of the fundamental fallacy of believing in the separation of self and other. As applied to such political concepts as patriotism, nationalism and fascism (which are gradations of the same emotional attachment), the problem is group ego, the false distinction between "us" and "them." The attempt to establish an apartheid political system, which is fundamentally racist, depends on the notion that "we" are somehow "entitled," and "they" are somehow less than human. That sort of thinking comes from what are known in buddhism as "the three poisons;" passion, aggression and ignorance. As Martin Luther so aptly put it, "reason is a whore;" it prostitutes itself to those destructive emotions, based on which we exercise our considerable talent for rationalization without even realizing that that is what we are doing. If you agree with the One State Solution, even somewhat, please jump into the fray. If good people stay on the sidelines, bad things happen. If you're not sure how you can help, please get in touch with me. I'll suggest something for you to do. In the meantime, just to get your feet wet, I am trying to populate a regional working group for North America. (Folks from there who are now living elsewhere are also invited to join.) You are also invited to join a new international Group committed to implementing the One State project. Last but not least, I live on next to nothing and have no funding for this effort, let alone enough to consistently pay the rent. Your help would be crucial in ensuring that this work continues. If you feel moved to donate, please send a check made out to One State to this address: Roger Tucker 3400 Old NC 86 Hillsborough, NC 27278
